Philosophy & Approach
Projekt 48 believes brain and behavior research should be shared widely and equitably - especially with marginalized communities. The importance of brain and behavior research in understanding and treating mental health and learning disorders cannot be overstated. However, marginalized communities often face significant barriers to accessing and benefiting from this research. We are unwavering in our commitment to dismantling these entry barriers to groundbreaking brain and behavior research, driving innovation in mental health and education, influencing policy decision-makers, and increasing funding for organizations providing critical services to disenfranchised groups and communities.
Our unique approach to bridging the gap between neuroscience, social work, and education is informed by leading neuroscience, mental health, and education experts. We rigorously analyze research from notable scientists like Dr. Stuart Brown, Dr. Daniel Siegel, Dr. Bruce Perry, Dr. Frances E. Jensen, Dr. Laurence Steinberg, and Dr. Kent Kiehl. We translate their findings into evidence-informed programs vital for mental health and education practitioners. This approach increases access to distinguished research about trauma, learning, and brain development for marginalized communities, creating more equitable outcomes in mental health and education.
